No! You cannot be hypnotised. Hypnotherapy and branches of this practice, such as hypnobirthing teach YOU how to reach a level of relaxation and calm entirely on your own. The purpose of this being, to introduce positive thoughts, information and beliefs in order to change your outlook and response to the subject in question. In this case BIRTH!
Absolutely not, its for ALL births. Hypnobirthing techniques are there to help us manage in labour and birth, however that may look. By using Hypnobirthing in the run up to and during labour, it can really stack your odds in favour of a more comfortable vaginal birth. But, the tools are there to help you navigate the twists and turns that any birth can take, calmly and confidently.
No. There's lots of tools to learn and use, breathing techniques are great, but there's much more to it. My courses are fully comprehensive, click here to find out what that means.
Yes, it really can. Learning about birth, even when you are expecting a subsequent baby, can shed light on unanswered questions and even help you to understand or process your previous birth experience even more. It can be a really theraputic experience. Hypnobirthing is amazing during labour, but also the practice itself in pregnancy can dramatically reduce anxiety, helping you to enjoy your experience and trust in both your body and baby. My fully comprehensive courses cover navigating the maternity system and pushing for individualised care, this is incredibly useful for all expectant parents.
No. Is the short answer. But, good use of it can really stack the odds in your favour for this type of birth, if that is your preference. Many birthing people who have effectively used hypnobirthing have reported a much more comfortable and positive experience. But no amount of hypnobirthing will prevent a medical situation that warrants intervention from arising. My courses do offer everything you need however, to fully understand your rights and choices and the evidence behind the most common forms of intervention.
Yes please, they really need to. It's important for a few reasons. Everyone needs to be singing from the same hymn sheet and it will help them too. They need to understand the techniques, the process of birth and their role to fully support you and to protect themselves from feeling like a spare-part. Which unfortunately, all to often birth partners report feeling like. This course is just as important to them!
It's never too late to do something, something is ALWAYS better than nothing. I offer full day intensive courses that give you the absolute essentials (as well as all of the resources) to help you in the final few weeks of pregnancy, as well as labour and birth itself. Please always get in touch if you feel that you need some last-minute support.
Some Hypnobirthing practicioners teach hypnobirthing techniques only, and some antenatal courses/classes do not teach hypnobirthing or relaxation techniques. My courses cover the whole lot! I endeavor to give you the best of both worlds so that not only do you learn how to relax and change your mindset, but you get a really good grip of what having a baby is actually all about. The ins and outs of it all. Click here to find out what's covered in my courses.
